SHADES OF NUDE

What does the word “nude” mean to you? What color does it bring to mind? If you think beige—that’s because it has been the standard shade when it came to describing nude for a very long time.

Aren’t we lucky that we no longer have to be limited to such a restrictive and singular point of view? There’s been a welcome shift over the last few years; there’s been what I will refer to as a democratization of beauty, a de-standardization of the acceptable, a shift in norms- a very welcome one at that.

I love that now when I use the word nude- it can reflect me, my color, my complexion in the nude. I love that there are clothes and underwear and most important and literally most relevant to my everyday life, there are now shoes that come in every shade of nude. Cos, while we are all so alike in so many ways, we do happily come in so very many different nude shades. From the creamiest, fairest milk-hues to honey and caramel, to cocoa and coffee and everything in between.

To celebrate the new all-inclusive collection of nude shoes now available at DSW, I chose to style a shade darker than my skin tone because I liked the way it complimented by skin. Cos sometimes, you may want a perfect match and sometimes you may want a color that plays well against your skin. Check out the full line at DSW.com!
