Brunch at Peaches

I haven't blogged in a while about my adventures in Brunching.  Been a little busy lately and had been on brunch timeout for a bit.

Thankfully, that horrible time in my life is now over and I am back to brunching. On Saturday I finally made it to Peaches Hothouse. A girlfriend of mine had been telling me to check it out for weeks and weeks now. So, of course, I was very excited and tried to keep my expectations reasonable.

First off, love the neighborhood, lots of tree lined brownstones, and a very welcoming entrance:

It was around noon, and it was already buzzing, not quite packed though.  Being a beautiful day, we decided to sit outside, in the backyard. Service was attentive and I definitely didn't have any complaints about that.

I ordered the granola crusted french toast (my no pancakes on menu option) with spicy pork sausage. The hubby ordered the bacon egg and cheese sandwich with potatoes.

Despite really wanting to love my food especially as I was feeling the ambiance, the live jazz, the service, the decor, pretty much everything, it was very disappointing when my cold, dry french toast arrived. I thought about sending it back to be microwaved but decided to not cause a fuss. The spicy pork sausage was actually quite good, but good sausage on its own does not a meal make.

On the other hand, my hubby loved his plate of food. Except for one tiny strange problem: his sandwich had too much bacon. I don't believe he or I have ever complained of too much bacon before. He had to pull out at least 4 strips and still had plenty in there. The highlight of our meal had to be the excellent potatoes. I had my fork in his plate most of the time and could probably order just those next time.

All in all, I would give it a second go- my bad plate may have just been bad luck.
